PDF Screen Reader?

I'm looking for a free screen reading-type program for Macs and/or iPhone that can read PDFs aloud to me. I have typical vision and reading abilities, but I prefer audiobooks to print books, and I currently have a long list of research papers to read, all of which I have in PDF format (mostly actual text in the PDFs rather than scanned). Can anyone make a suggestion of software for me? Thanks! :)

I'm an Android user myself, but I had been under the impression that text to speech was built in to iOS and could be enabled at the OS level.

Thanks, I'll have to check that out. From a quick glance at the iPhone accessibility page it's not clear to me if it'll continually read a PDF document being viewed in something other than Safari, but maybe I'm wrong.

I read an article about it that implied it worked for everything, and pointed a friend with reading issues to it - with apparent success. But again, not an iPhone user.

I don't know if it's available for iPhone, but my favorite ebook reader, FBReader, has a text to speech plugin that I just adore. I can be reading a book, but need to head off somewhere... so I turn on my bluetooth headset, and tell it to keep reading it to me. Voila! Haven't found a good pdf reader yet, but the impression I'd gotten is that iOS has better support there.
